About this role

The interns will develop, test, and coordinate rover activities and software. NASA MSFC has a large outdoor lunar regolith field training ground for testing of rover and simulated lunar activities. An intern will work within a team of peers and NASA personnel at MSFC to develop rovers that will operate autonomously in the real-world analog lunar environment, as well as in simulation environments (e.g. ROS Gazebo). Specific tasks may include rover guidance, navigation, coordination; or hazard detection algorithm development, simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) algorithm development, loop closure, SLAM processing acceleration, rover con-ops development, and/or software/hardware. The project will end with a demonstration test of autonomous rover activities. This will be a very hands-on and team-oriented opportunity. All engineering disciplines welcome with suitable knowledge of ROS 2 and/or C++.
