About this role

The Operations and Visiting Vehicle branch is looking for an intern to support the safety review and flight readiness of a spacecraft launching to the International Space Station (ISS). Responsibilities include reviewing and tracking of the spacecraft’s hazard reports, conducting analysis on delivered data, reviewing safety-critical operational controls, and ensuring catastrophic/critical hazards are sufficiently controlled, contained, eliminated or mitigated. Interns are expected to learn the safety review process by observing and then being an active participant in support of a vehicle. Similarly, they will learn the processes for certifying a vehicle for flight readiness up until launch. This includes reviewing and establishing traceability on how the spacecraft’s safety requirements are closed down to the test, analysis, or inspection report. Interns will also support the preliminary design review and requirement compliance for the Moon Base Program and its many projects in preparation for their respective Artemis missions.

In parallel with these duties, the interns are expected to support a review of on-orbit procedures and analyze for human factor deficiencies that will later be presented to high-level management in support of the ISS.

Our team is looking for interns with a keen interest in Systems Engineering while having a solid foundation on logic devices, electrical/computer/mechanical/aerospace engineering fundamentals, and a desire to learn the behind-the-scenes overview from a high-level perspective.
This position is expected to follow a fully-onsite experience, 5-days a week. No exceptions will be made.

**Eligible Applicants:** Student
**Academic Level:** Undergraduate Sophomore, Undergraduate Junior
**Activity Type:** In-person
**Citizenship:** US Citizen Only
