About this role

AMETEK Level Measurement Solutions is seeking a Test Engineer II to develop and support test systems used to verify the performance, reliability, safety, and regulatory compliance of Magnetrol and Drexelbrook industrial level measurement products.

In this hands-on role, you will design, develop, execute, and maintain automated and manual test solutions for embedded electronic products and assemblies. You will work closely with electrical, firmware, mechanical, manufacturing, and quality teams to validate new designs, investigate failures, analyze test data, and improve product and process performance throughout the product lifecycle.

You will play a key role in bringing new products to market, supporting production and field issues, and continuously improving test coverage, equipment, methods, and documentation for rugged industrial environments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

• Develop and execute engineering test plans, procedures, protocols, and reports for new and existing products.

• Design, build, program, validate, document, and maintain automated and manual test systems, custom fixtures, and data-acquisition solutions.

• Perform functional, performance, user-interface, environmental, safety, EMC/EMI, high-potential (HiPot), isolation, ingress-protection, and reliability testing.

• Verify industrial communication interfaces, including 4-20 mA current loop, HART 7, Modbus, PROFIBUS, RS-485, FOUNDATION Fieldbus, and Bluetooth.

• Test industrial level measurement products that may use guided wave radar (TDR), non-contact radar, RF/admittance, magnetostrictive, displacer, and point-level sensing technologies.

• Conduct board- and system-level bring-up, troubleshooting, fault isolation, electrical characterization, and failure analysis using laboratory instrumentation.

• Analyze test data, identify trends and anomalies, document results, and communicate clear conclusions and recommendations to project teams.

• Partner with design engineers to improve product testability, reliability, manufacturability, and compliance readiness.

• Support compliance and certification activities for UL, CE, FCC, FM, and ATEX/IECEx requirements, as applicable.

• Apply relevant requirements and test methods, including ISA S71.03, MIL-STD-810G, IEC 61326-1, IEC 61000-4, IEC 60529, and NAMUR NE 21, NE 43, and NE 107, as applicable.

• Support hazardous-area, Intrinsic Safety (IS), and Safety Integrity Level (SIL) verification activities, as applicable.

• Interface with external test laboratories, certification agencies, suppliers, and customers as needed.

• Support production test operations and field investigations by resolving equipment and product issues, improving test coverage, and implementing corrective actions.

• Maintain test software, equipment, calibration records, work instructions, and engineering documentation in accordance with quality-system and change-control requirements.

• Other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with 5+ years of relevant experience.

• Experience with electronic product testing, validation, laboratory instrumentation, and test equipment.

• Programming experience with LabVIEW.

• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, specifications, and technical standards.

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, documentation, and communication skills.

• Ability to work effectively across electrical, firmware, mechanical, manufacturing, and quality disciplines.
