About this role
Job Title: Electrical Engineer
Exciting opportunity to kickstart your career! Job Description Join a high-impact engineering team supporting advanced sensor and RF technologies used in mission-critical undersea defense applications. This role is ideal for a motivated early-career Electrical Engineer who wants to build a strong technical foundation through hands-on testing, troubleshooting, data analysis, and system sustainment activities. You will work closely with experienced engineers on RF components, antennas, amplifiers, cable assemblies, and integrated sensor systems, gaining exposure to the full engineering lifecycle from laboratory testing and troubleshooting to requirements analysis, production support, and customer-facing technical communication. Responsibilities
- Learn and apply the design, testing, production, and sustainment processes for complex RF and electrical sensor systems.
- Perform hands-on testing of amplifiers, antennas, cables, and electronic hardware using standard engineering procedures and test equipment.
- Collect, analyze, and validate electrical and RF performance data against system requirements and specifications.
- Support troubleshooting efforts for production hardware, fielded systems, and component-level issues to restore performance and reliability.
- Review engineering drawings, technical documentation, and test procedures to deepen system knowledge and support technical investigations.
- Evaluate component obsolescence issues and identify form-fit-function replacement solutions through research and vendor engagement.
- Assist with corrective action investigations, including root-cause analysis and implementation of engineering solutions.
- Support bench-level, laboratory, shipyard, and waterfront testing activities for undersea sensor and RF systems.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify deficiencies, resolve technical issues, and improve product performance.
- Create, update, and maintain technical documentation, performance reports, calibration files, and engineering records.
- Present technical findings, test results, and recommendations to internal engineering teams and government customers.
- Use engineering data analysis tools to interpret test results and support design, troubleshooting, and sustainment decisions.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret-level security clearance, including eligibility to start with an Interim Secret.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Analytical mindset with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities for RF and electronic hardware.
- Willingness and ability to learn new systems, processes, and technologies related to RF, sensors, and defense applications.
- Ability to work onsite in a laboratory and secure engineering environment on a regular basis.
- Foundational knowledge of electrical engineering principles, hardware design concepts, and requirements analysis.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical documentation, and test procedures.
- Comfort using electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and power supplies.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and basic engineering data analysis tools.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- 1+ years of engineering experience through full-time roles, internships, co-ops, or relevant academic project work.
- Coursework or exposure in RF, microwave, communications, antenna design, or electromagnetics.
- Experience with RF or electronic test equipment, including network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and FieldFox analyzers.
- Familiarity with RF components, antennas, amplifiers, and both fiber optic and copper cabling.
- Experience with MATLAB or similar engineering data analysis tools for processing and visualizing test data.
- Exposure to configuration management (CM) processes and tools.
- Experience with hardware testing, electronics troubleshooting, or work in laboratory environments.
- Experience supporting defense or military programs or working with government customers.
- Ability to develop clear technical documentation, test reports, and performance summaries.
- Comfort presenting technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Work Environment You will work primarily in an onsite laboratory and secure engineering environment focused on undersea sensor and RF systems. The role involves frequent hands-on interaction with RF components, antennas, amplifiers, and both fiber optic and copper cabling. You will regularly use test and measurement equipment such as network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, FieldFox analyzers, oscilloscopes, multimeters, and power supplies, along with software tools including MATLAB, Microsoft Excel, and other engineering data analysis tools. Work includes bench-level and laboratory testing as well as support for shipyard and waterfront test activities, which may require time in industrial or maritime settings. The environment is highly collaborative, with close interaction between engineering, production, and program teams, and offers exposure to the full lifecycle of mission-critical defense systems in a structured, process-driven setting.
