Westinghouse's Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineering and Manufacturing organization is hiring for the Catalyst Program, a career development initiative that prepares future leaders through cross-functional rotations, hands-on experience, and progressively expanding responsibilities.
You will rotate through multiple teams within I&C at Westinghouse, such as:
- Safety and Reactor Systems Engineering
- Systems Engineering
- Advanced Operations and Controls Engineering,
- Global I&C Production and IV&V
In each of these teams, you will work in different fields, including Systems Engineering, Hardware Design, and Software Design (Controls, Display, and Object-Oriented), Verification & Validation and Testing (Environmental, Functional, Integration), and Simulator Development and Testing.
You will report to an I&C Engineering Manager and work a hybrid role based in the Greater Pittsburgh Area.
About the Catalyst Program:
- Through a series of rotations, you will deliver value across multiple departments and locations while gaining hands-on experience and developing an understanding of different departments within the company.
- For each rotation/department, develop an understanding of the strategic direction of the department and the business environment and evaluate how business strategies align with the direction of the business.
- Identify areas of improvement and use data analysis skills to propose solutions to enhance the efficiency of each rotational department.
- Develop a foundation of leadership capabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Help develop I&C systems based on functional requirements, design requirements and regulatory requirements.
- Support design engineers to develop the hardware and software solutions for I&C system. Develop design documents, which may include functional logic diagrams, system design documents, software requirements, and calculation notes.
- Collaborate with other teams and partners to ensure integration of the I&C system.
- Selection and specification of I/O, controllers/processors, power supplies and other equipment to satisfy design requirements.
- Create hardware drawings and related documentation based on the functional design.
- Implement control logic and Human-Machine Interface (HMI) displays based on the functional design.
- Develop test procedures and execute tests at software module, board level, and integrated system level to support delivery of I&C systems.
- Perform independent verification and validation functions on safety related platform and application software through inspection, analysis, and test.
- Support in-process quality audits following project quality plans, work with functional organizations to resolve issues to ensure compliance.
- Collaborate with project team, shop technicians, quality control/quality assurance/supply chain organizations to support production planning.
- Support innovation and internal transformation programs to improve product quality and project efficiency.
- Develop tools and scripts to improve existing processes and gain efficiencies.
Qualifications:
- Hold a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Computer Engineering
- 0+ years of experience
- Outstanding academic achievement detailed on resume
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities
- Knowledge of Labview, C++, Java, Python, object-oriented design, basic TCP/IP networking knowledge, virtualization, embedded software helpful
- 1+ years of experience with Printed Circuit Boards, Analog/Digital Circuit Design, FPGA, CPLDs is helpful
We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $85,000.
