Newark Liberty International Airport

Starting Pay: $27.76/hour (Union Position)

Could you be the full-time Maintenance Technician at Newark Liberty International Airport we're looking for?

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your maintenance expertise in a critical transportation environment. You'll work alongside skilled, dedicated, and collaborative teammates to help ensure the safe and reliable operation of the Newark airport AirTrain system.

In this role, you'll play an important part in maintaining vehicle and station infrastructure availability for thousands of passengers each day. Day-to-day, you'll work with maintenance and operations teams to perform inspections, preventive maintenance activities, and corrective repairs across AirTrain vehicles, guideway systems, and station doors.

We'll look to you for:

- Inspecting vehicles and related equipment to identify failed or improperly operating components

- Performing preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems

- Troubleshooting equipment issues and replacing defective parts using technical manuals, drawings, and specifications

- Completing maintenance records, reports, and daily logs accurately and on time

- Following all safety procedures while maintaining tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and orderly condition

Work Schedule:
Operations and Maintenance activities support a 24/7/365 operation. Shift assignments, including nights, weekends, and holidays, may be required based on operational needs.

All about you

We value passion and attitude over experience. That's why we don't expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we've listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:

- High school diploma or equivalent

- Technical school education preferred

- Minimum of 2 years of maintenance shop experience

- Knowledge of basic electrical theory and mechanical systems

- Experience working with electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment

- Familiarity with a wide variety of hand tools and basic electronic test equipment

- Ability to read and follow technical instructions, drawings, and maintenance procedures

- Commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship

Things you'll enjoy

Join us on a lifelong transformative journey. The rail industry is here to stay, so you can grow and develop new skills and experiences throughout your career. You'll also:

- Enjoy stability, challenges, and a long-term career free from boring daily routines

- Work on advanced automated transportation systems serving a major international airport

- Collaborate with supportive teams and experienced colleagues

- Contribute to the safe and reliable movement of passengers every day

- Benefit from ongoing training and development opportunities

- Build specialized skills in transit and transportation maintenance

- Steer your career in whatever direction you choose across functions and locations

- Benefit from a competitive union compensation and benefits package

You don't need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us. We guarantee that when you ride one of our systems with your friends or family, you'll be proud of the impact your work makes. If you're up for the challenge, we'd love to hear from you!
